Our Experience

We provide attorneys that have been licensed to practice law for five years or more to preside over hearings pursuant to California Government Code section 27720. Our hearing officers are neutral, unbiased professionals who conduct hearings in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The hearings can be digitally recorded; furthermore, we also have video conferencing capabilities. Contracting with us to provide administrative hearing officers comports with the California Supreme Court’s decision in Haas v. County of San Bernardino, 27 Cal.4th 1017 (2002).

Haas v. County of San Bernardino

The Court in Haas held that a public agency is precluded from unilaterally selecting and paying an administrative hearing officer directly on an ad hoc basis where the hearing officer’s income from future work depends entirely on the public agency’s good will. When an agency contracts with McGeorge Hearing Officer Services, they do so via an administrative system that precludes the individual selection of the adjudicator to avoid Haas issues.
